The Reaper – Garry Michael
This book left me absolutely shook. The moment I turned the last page, I knew I’d be diving into the next one soon because I need more answers, more unraveling, more everything. And yet, even with all the intensity and unanswered questions, I felt such joy for Archer and Heath. Their connection lit up even the darkest moments.
Archer completely stole my heart. For all his brutal edges, there’s this raw vulnerability that slipped through, and it changed the way I saw him page by page. His obsession with Heath wasn’t just twisted—it was oddly tender in its own way, and I couldn’t look away. Heath, meanwhile, brought so much complexity to the story. His loyalty, his hidden mission, and the weight of what he was carrying kept me on edge.
The romance here is obsessive and forbidden—claustrophobic in the way it builds, yet impossible not to root for. Their dynamic is charged, heavy with secrets and tension, but the way they crash together makes every stolen moment feel electric.
⚠️ Mild Spoilers Below
The confessional scene? Unforgettable. Equal parts shocking and intimate. And the fact that Archer—someone so closed off—let Heath in enough to share his name, his secrets, and even his past, hit me harder than I expected. Heath, torn between his mission and his growing attachment, was heartbreaking, especially once the truth about the Firm began to surface. And that final love confession? Perfection.
As far as darkness goes, this one balanced the brutality with just enough emotional payoff. It was gritty, morally gray, and psychologically intense, but also strangely beautiful in the way these two broken men clung to each other. If anything, I wanted just a touch more about taking the Firm itself down—but I know that’s what the next book is there for, and I’m ready for it.
The vibe: forbidden, obsessive, brutal yet tender. If you like morally gray antiheroes, twisted obsessions, and dangerous entanglements that burn too hot to resist, this one will absolutely hook you.
⭐ Rating: 4/5
It’s addictive, immersive, and left me with just the right mix of satisfaction and desperate need for more.
