Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

There is just something about Taylor Jekins Reid that just does it for me everytime.

Her writing is gorgeous, raw, there's something about it that feels so human, down to earth and genuine. It is an undeniable and irreplaceable talent. This book is about family, and the ever complicated frustrating feelings of craving connection and love from those who have the ability to tear you apart the most. Reid has a interesting and absolutely captivating way to tell every single one of her stories- and every single time it is fresh and different. The way she tells the story of the Riva family, through flashbacks and timestamped chapters detailing the events and consequences of one singular night is spectacular. The pacing is exciting, the characters are flawed and charming and you fall in love with them without even trying. There's a good handful of characters, but all of them individual and so well-written that you are able to dive right in to it. Every bit of this book was engaging, interesting, and gorgeous.
