Spare
by Prince Harry
Spare- Prince Harry
-
You’ve got to love a click bait tagline like that one right….kinda like the media vultures do. More about me relating to royalty later.
I really enjoyed this book, I appreciate that most of the book was a history of his life and didn’t just focus the most recent events until quite close to the end. I see this as a boy/man just trying to tell his story, I say boy because I feel that he is still a traumatised and grieving boy as well as a protective and loving man who just wanted a family and now he has one, he just wants to live happily with them.
The way I read ‘Spare’ was not as if the purpose was to expose all of the royals darkest secrets but taking the power away from the media. If they are going to spread untrue stories about you, why not tell your story the way it happened?
Back to me relating to a Prince, as most of you know, I lost my dad two years ago now (I was 25) and I am not sure if I have a soft spot for Harry or I feel sorry for him but I really can relate to his inner thoughts and feelings, it is HARD losing a parent but to do it at such a young age? That kind of trauma takes a LONG time to get a handle on and I can’t blame him for some of the ways he went about dealing with it (notice I said some, he was just an idiot sometimes)
All in all, I enjoyed ‘spare’ and without feeding into the controversy, I like Harry and Meghan.
