Beneath the Sand by Katherine L. Bichler
5.0
This book was EVERYTHING and actually one of my favorite reads this year!
You get a strong female lead (Noemi) and a dream boat gladiator (Cato) to fall in love with. You also get Livia who is Noemi's sister and you get to follow her story dealing with the emperor.
I love reading about the Roman era. This was basically a fictional behind the scenes look of gladiator battles, executions, and the life of an emperor. I also love animals and Noemi was an animal trainer with her dad. They would use said animals in the executions.
There were times it seemed a little slow but that doesn't even matter to me because the writing was just so good! And don't get me wrong -- there were definitely some intense moments that kept you on the edge of your seat too! I didn't think the book was going to end the way it did and I'm VERY happy about that! Lol. The ending was perfection. ❤️
I highly recommend this one! There was never a time I wanted to stop reading and when I wasn't reading it, I couldn't stop thinking about it!
I was incredibly lucky to be given and ARC and all opinions are mine and mine alone.
