A garbage book with a garbage story. It denies the reader of any fantasy and drags the characters through the mud. Skip the book, see the play (which is DIAMETRICALLY different from the play). Seriously, don't read the book before the play because you'll expect awful things to happen that never do and the play is much better, if you haven't read the book already to taint your imagination.
