The Man in the High Castle
by Philip K. Dick
I admit, I only read this book because of Amazon's new series based on this story. I was intrigued by the premise. What would the world be like if the Germans and Japanese had won WWII? The author tends to focus more on spirituality and the soul rather than too many details about what life might be like. My biggest gripe is the ending, or rather lack thereof. It just sort of...stops. Apparently there was supposed to be a sequel that the author never felt he was able to write because he couldn't take reading about the Nazis anymore, which is completely understandable. I've heard that the Amazon series is only loosely based on the book, so I'll be interested to watch and see how different it is. Maybe I'll get some closure there.
