It's in His Kiss
by Julia Quinn
Arguably the best of the series, the 7th bridgerton follows hyacinth as she finds her match. Slightly more equal that the dynamics in the other books, I like that sex energizes her and that going on adventures is how they fall in love. Still a weird protective-infantilizing slant to the male character about hyacinth going around London by herself - which is present in all the novels and which I feel adds absolutely nothing to the story but rather taints the narrative. After all, these women live in London too, they are aware of the dangers and are supposedly intelligent enough to manage themselves. Yet somehow the male characters act like they are tots about to cross a busy street and always with the threat of tying them to the end “to protect them from themselves.” Which is just weird.
Anyway, I like that this had a bit of mystery and suspense to it. But there really isn’t much more to it than that.
