Shucked
by Kate Canterbary
I had the opportunity to read this book's ARC, and thank you so much, Kate!
Favorite quotes:
"Anything you want. Anything, Sunny. You could rip my heart out of my chest and make me stare at it while I die, and I wouldn't fault you for it"
"I want to sit across from you knowing that everyone else in the world wants to be near you, wants your attention, and I was the one who got it for these short hours."
What this book is about:
All Beckett Loew wanted was to stay as far away as possible from his small town, Friendship, Rhode Island, but due to some crazy confusion at his family’s oyster bar making him move back to take care of it, and his little brother, what he didn't expect was to find this beautiful woman who just opened a vegan café right next to him that seems to occupy his mind more than it should.
Sunny duJardin never felt like she belonged somewhere, and after winning an entire establishment on a poker game, she decides to move back to her hometown to open a café with her best friends, but she wasn't prepared to see her brother's best friend who used to make fun of her when she was a kid back in town and seems to want to solve all of her problems and even if she doesn't want to deal with him, they can't stay away from each other.
My Opinion:
This is my second Kate book, and I really enjoyed it, The book it's pretty fast-paced with appealing backgrounds for the characters outside their relationship, Sunny's chronic illness (epilepsy) was interesting and gave me a little more understanding of it.
Sunny and Beck's romance was fun and their bitterness was SO good!
I'm not very fond of all of the "I can't even look at you because you're my best friend's little sister, even if you're a grown-up adult" but I believe this was well done here, and it wasn't an issue for their relationship and it wasn't a reason for them not being together.
Overall this was a really sweet and fun book, Beckett is SO OBSESSED with her in such a cute way that got me giggling and kicking my feet, which is EXACTLY what I look for in a romcom. I gave this book 3.75 stars, and absolutely recommend it.
