This was a really cool retelling inspired by Robin McKinley's own excellent retelling (well, one of her retellings), Rose Daughter. It definitely stands by itself, though, with its banter and uh Horrors. It would not be Kingfisher without the Horrors, but boy they sure do ramp up quickly towards the end. Like the Silent Hill body horror background imagery sort of Horrors. Oof.
Also, there's mention of suicide: a woman killed herself a long time ago offcreen, but her blood still stains a rug. It was kind of jarring.
Still had fun with it, though. Bryony and Holly are great!
