This book was very character focused. Like the forest under the sea this book is all about unearthing the past and trying to understand their enigmatic mother as they also struggle with the lifelong repercussions of her actions.

The author is amazing at putting to words feelings I have had in situations that I have never even thought to voice before. Her prose is so beautiful and while technically not a lot really happens the writing is so lush and there were so many lines that were exquisitely crafted.
