Family Family by Laurie Frankel
5.0

This is my favorite book from Laurie Frankel. It's sweet, real, uplifting, and a story not being shared much. Healthy adoptive families who are also complicated, but not, as a rule, tragic. Sometimes life is hard but not a train wreck. I appreciate the main character is wrestling with the idea that there's not enough representation about adoption in the world. So many times it's seen as a last resort, or only a giving up - but sometimes it's just the choice being made and the individual is being placed in that situation. Is adoption sometimes traumatic, yes? But not as a rule. It's like life, sometimes it's traumatic, but not as a rule. Would definitely recommend - and now I want someone to read this so we can talk about it!
