In terms of sheer enjoyment of the storytelling, this 5 stars. But there's not quite enough explanation about the backstory of the fairfolk for me. Like I don't know how they become fairfolk- is it sexual reproduction? Humans turned into them? And if none of them can really feel true human emotions, how can any of them fall in love with a human? And what happens to Aster or the hunter? I think this needs to be a duology to fit the amount of answer I need. Isobel doesn't need to be 17 and I really wish she wasn't bc of the ending. She could be 21 or 22 and still be the exact same character.
Graphic: Injury/Injury detail and Blood
The descriptions of rot and decomposition are detailed, grotesque, and very very well done.. They make you see the awful images so clearly. It's impressive but if you're squeamish like me, just know that going in.
