captainoz 's review for:
Alexander Hamilton
by Ron Chernow
I FINISHED IT!!! That might be the longest amount of time I ever spent reading a book. (Though I did read 9 other books during the time I was reading Alexander Hamilton...so there's that.) Let's see. I think this is more of a 3-1/2 star book than the 4 I give it on Goodreads. (Dear Goodreads...why can't we have half stars??) So much interesting information, but it was incredibly dense. So dense that often I couldn't read more than 20 pages at a time. But I'm glad I read it. For many years I've simply seen Hamilton as the handsome dude on the $10 bill. I didn't realize the ridiculous amount of impact that his energy and intelligence had on this country. I also enjoyed a completely different perspective on John Adams (compared to what I learned in the McCullough bio). However, every historian seems to agree that Jefferson was a bit of a tool.
