This was okay. I wanted to like it more than I did. For the most part I enjoyed it but it needed to have way filler in between things to make it more believable in the romance department. As much as I like this series and the mafia spin-off, it is a bit formulaic. This book needed to be longer with more showing and less telling to make the plot/romance believable.
I wish the author would do a better job proofreading/editing. There were a few things that threw me out of the story like the use of the name ‘Joey’ when there are no characters named Joey. Reading it through one more time or using an editor/proofreader would make their books so much better! Also, can we stop using the “I messed up so I am going to run instead of communicate” trope to progress the plot. I’m way over it.
