Definitely felt like a cross between Brideshead Revisited and The Great Gatsby. It’s Gatsby but like, 1000 times better. I cried twice. Just absolutely beautiful. Baldwin’s understanding and analysis of human emotion far surpasses any other writers’ that I’ve read.
