entirely bittersweet, an atmospheric read helmed by a first person narrative. the reveals are startling though never overblown. this book invites us to question what defines humanity and when we rob others of it how do they find ways back to their own agency? a haunting novel that truly earns its right in the gothic canon; it lingers with you like a time in childhood you can never go back to.
