Look at Me by Anita Brookner

5.0

Brookner writes the protagonist's awkwardness with such elegance, it's confusing - on one hand it makes that awkwardness looks funny, on the other it paints her as somewhat sad and tragic. So much care is put into the details of her internal struggles.

Also, this book resonates very well with me personally. It transcribes into words things that I - and many others, I presume - might find difficult to confront and describe.
