Wanderers
by Chuck Wendig
Eerily prophetic, for a book released in 2019.
Rounding down from 3.5 to 3. Parts of the story draggggeddd, the book took me over a month to get through. While some chapters were very immersive. I don't think we needed 800+ pages at all, there was definitely some areas that could be shaved down / removed.
It was a mixed bag overall, some characters I enjoyed (petition to have the book re-released from the PoV of Pete Corely). Whilst some, I disliked entirely (looking at you Shana + Paster Matthew).
However, the downfall of humanity was paved out well, and for obvious reasons, very easily imagined.
I liked the concept of black swan. I'd have preferred it leaned heavier into the shared consciousness of the sleepers, and all the Black Swan conspiracy, rather than all the time spent with Paster Matt.
Overall, I liked it. But I don't think it's top of my recommendations.
