The Cowboy by M. O'Keefe

3.0

Late Review: I'm catching up on some reviews from books I've read earlier this year.

The Cowboy by Molly O’Keefe should have fallen right in line with the three previous books in The King Family series. I’d grown accustomed to the King family and their tumultuous romantic entanglements. But I’m afraid I just didn’t love Bea’s story. Maybe I was already predisposed to not like it because I’d watched Bea behave like a grade A bitch when any of her siblings seemed to find love. This story just seemed a little convoluted and maybe just too complicated. They way Cody and Bea find each other, how they interact. I just wasn’t a fan. Cody is a mess and what I hate most is that he continues to mistreat Bea when none of it is her fault. For all her tough shit when it comes to her families affairs she basically lets this man trample all over her. Not to mention she seems like she’s drifting as well. She has no real sense of direction and she doesn’t particularly have any ambition. I get that she’s been burned in the past but she seems to carry every failure with her. Overall this book didn’t do it for me. I was being generous when I gave it 4 stars. Its being downgraded to 3 stars. I wouldn’t read this again.
