So You Want to Be President?: The Revised and Updated Edition by Judith St George

4.0

This nonfiction book presents history (yawn, boring) with facts about real people that are funny, embarrassing, and not often what I'd want repeated about me after I pass (hm, interesting). The book moves through basic facts about the presidency by relating to kids (so YOU think you want to be president?) and shares fun facts in a way that's, well, actually fun. The illustrations that accompany the book are cartoon-style and show the emotions and exaggerations of the president's live. They seem like a colorful bunch of people (who knew that William Howard Taft needed a special bathub?). For kids learning about the American government this book is a fun, non-political way to engage them.
