Carve the mark wasn't what I expected. Did I love it? Not really. However, I found that I eventually connected with the characters and felt for them deeply. It's hard not to compare it to the masterpiece of divergent. This was a lot slower pacing and not as good. This book could've been a lot better if it was executed a bit better. I didn't notice the controversy in this book. I'll read the sequel because I love the characters but I just feel like this fell flat and I hope it gets better in book 2.
