This was a good follow up to book #1, albeit with a slower pace and more meandering prose. The good thing is that every thing that happened served to advance specific themes in the story and the plot to a large extent.
As regards the characters, I think the most painful thing to observe was Marc’s betrayal and the fact that Olamina’s daughter turned out to be nothing like her.
