Nine Perfect Strangers
by Liane Moriarty
4.75 stars. I really, really enjoyed this book. It was just mysterious enough to keep me turning the pages, without scaring me so I wasn't going to be able to sleep. What I loved most about this book was how the author talked about these very imperfect humans (all of them! Every last one!) with unconditional positive regard. Everyone made sense in their context, and that's the mark of a good work of fiction to me: it expanded my empathy for some very flawed people. I was telling my husband that one of the central questions of this book seems to be, "How do you value un-excellent people?"—while also reckoning with the fact that every human is un-excellent in their way. And beautiful.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will gladly read anything by Moriarty.
