The Wedding Ringer by Kerry Rea

1.5*, unfortunately. This is one more book that would have been a whole lot better without the romantic plotline - why do authors keep trying to stick it where it very clearly doesn't belong??? In this case, however, this unfortunate trait is not the worst of it.
I don't know whether it's due to the divided attention between the barely-there romance and everything else, but the result is that everything here seems superficial and stretched too thin. I started off wanting to care and came away not believing a word of it. I think the problem might be that the author never bothered to come up with realistic causes and effects - everything just happens as if in a vacuum and everyone is the way they are just because the author said so, but when we get glimpses into the characters' backstories or current circumstances - none of it makes sense.
