Widows by Lynda La Plante

4.0

It takes a lot for me to pick up a crime novel, and I originally read this because there's a movie coming out. It's really incredibly suspenseful. It kept me reading until I finished, and it's quite feminist. I really respected the women deciding fuck men, we're doing something for ourselves. I loved Dolly, Shirley, and Bella. The only reason this isn't five stars is because Linda was unbearable to read. Her sections were so unbearable, she was a terrible person. She was impossible to enjoy.

Also
while Harry being alive was a great twist, but his motives remained completely unknown to me. I don't really understand why he hated Dolly so very much, except at the very end. I understand that Dolly's view of her husband was incorrect, but it wasn't really expressed.

Either way, the book was quite enjoyable. I'm looking forward to the movie!
