Gideon the Ninth, by Tamsyn Muir

Did I just read Gideon the ninth because the author is a kiwi... Yes, yes I did (plus booktok also convinced me).

I honestly don't know how to rate this book or how to accurately convey my thoughts.

The atmosphere was beautifully done, the writing itself felt complex and even slightly poetic. Gideon's and Harrow's dynamic was great, I loved that almost every piece of dialogue between them was dripping with snark, it made it very fun to read.

It felt like it would be an incredibly easy book to become obsessed over, but unfortunately I'm in my era that fantasy just isn't doing it for me (which is crazy since fantasy is my everything). I might wait until I'm back into fantasy till reading the second book, I really want to enjoy it to it's full extent.
