Twilight
by Stephenie Meyer
Let me start by saying that I never read Twilight in middle school or high school when it was in height of its popularity. I’m sure if I had, this would have been 4/5 stars. It had everything I would have wanted to keep me interested as a teenager: immorality, vampires, true love. But despite that, it’s still only an okay book.
Overall, Bella and Edward don’t really have any personality, outside each other. Both just kind of exist but don’t find motivation or purpose in anything outside of wanting to be together. Bella basically does everything in the first half of the book to find out more about Edward and everything in the 2nd half is fueled by her wanting to be close to Edward.
There’s also no plot for roughly 60% of the book, it’s mainly just Bella thinking of Edward. Literally.
