This is not a time travel story. To reveal more would be to spoil the heart of this novel. However, I very much enjoyed The Tatami Galaxy. Once I got used to it, I enjoyed the unnamed protagonist's style of speaking, I enjoyed the small, cozy feeling of the setting, I enjoyed jumping back to previous stories to see what details repeated and which changed. I enjoyed seeing the narrative unfold in this way as it answered the questions it set up in the first story. Overall, if you like quirky, coming of age, tales about loveably pretentious 21 year olds, this book may be for you. I would also say that fate is one of the main themes of the story, but in a very creative and unique way, with a dash of "the grass is always greener."
