Nine Stories
by J.D. Salinger
I read [b:The Catcher in the Rye|5107|The Catcher in the Rye|J.D. Salinger|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1398034300l/5107._SY75_.jpg|3036731] as a kid, probably at the right age, and never read more Salinger. I didn't plan to, but after reading [b:My Salinger Year|18630531|My Salinger Year|Joanna Rakoff|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388374724l/18630531._SY75_.jpg|26423293], which has plenty of reflection about when most people read Salinger, I thought I should give this famous collection a go. I can't stand it. I think it's more the world than the writing, although the speech is a challenge to me too. Maybe it's just that it's been so influential that I'm coming to it after experiencing a million knock-offs but regardless - it's not for me.
