The Last Woman in the World by Inga Simpson

3.0

An apocalypse event is occurring, but I was left feeling a little underwhelmed and detached from the characters and storyline in this dystopian, adventure novel. There were some  aspects I enjoyed which kept me reading till the end. One, being that it was based in Australian towns I've been to, and so visualising the catastrophic scenes as I read was easier. There was also the appeal of the main character's solitary, calm existence prior to her receiving a knock on her door from a mother and child trying to outrun the apocalypse. I found myself imagining living in this way, without all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

It wasn't a terrible read, but nothing wow about it either for me.
