Eyes Like Those by Melissa Brayden

4.0

Book Club Buddy D. and I were ready for a bit of Melissa Brayden. This new Seven Shores series is off to a promising start and no doubt will be as successful as the Soho Loft series. The author has found her strength and would be stupid not to stay on that path.

The book is your typical light-hearted romance novel. Isabel Chase gets a dream job in Hollywood writing for a very successful show. She catches the eye of her boss, hot shot tv producer Taylor Andrews. And… we’re off.

Brayden does not disappoint. There is great chemistry, there are fantastic friends, there is quirky humor, there is fun dialogue, there are adorable pets, there is a crazy vindictive ex, there is semi explicit sexytimes, there are crippling anxieties, there is a shocking plot twist, there is angst and drama and at the end there is a happy resolution.

It was a good thing I was reading a Kindle and not a paperback, because (and I am not going to spoil things, don’t worry) that little plot twist towards the end made me so angry I wanted to tie a rock to it and hurl it through a window (the book, not the plot twist ;-) .

Eyes Like Those is a safe bet, guaranteed entertainment, well written romance. Good fun!

f/f semi explicit
Themes: Hollywood dream job, new friends, The Cat’s Pajamas sounds like a cool place, it wouldn’t be a Brayden novel if there wasn’t a cute pet in there somewhere, woah! that was some major betrayal there, just for that I am going to deduct 0.6 starzzzz because I had a hard time recovering from that, reading got delayed as I caught a heavy cold that made me unable to read to D. for several days.
