A Severe Mercy: A Story of Faith, Tragedy and Triumph by Sheldon Vanauken

5.0

Articulate. Raw. Hearbreaking AND achingly gorgeous at the same time. I have never met a memoir that has resonated within me as fully as this one does. Whether the journey to salvation, Sheldon's struggle between aesthetic Christianity and Christ, the almost-Narnian marriage of a couple, their journey towards Davy's early death, or the unlikely friendship between Lewis and Sheldon; no doubt every person would be moved by at least one aspect of this book.
