Ever since Candace's grandmother had left her with her cottage in the woods Candace has felt like her life has been in a spiral. Her grandmother had been dead set on Candace having it for reasons Candace couldn't understand. On this particular morning, Candace was on a walk through the woods when the locket she was wearing started to glow just as she stepped into this ring of red mushrooms speckled with white spots.

Candace's grandmother had given her the locket as well calling it a fairy locket. But, there was nothing in the world that could have prepared Candace for the stunning fairy Xavier she encountered. Xavier has this sweet face that drew you in and yet at the same time it was the meanest face Candace had ever seen. Candace had heard all the tales about fairies, but nothing prepared her for this...

Candace is shocked when Xavier steals her bed, and then she starts to have strange nightmares about things that live in the woods that have deadly sharp teeth. Candace knows without a doubt that she really should kick Xavier out as soon as the sun rises. But, at the same time, she feels bad for him, after all, it is her fault that Xavier's wing is damaged.

Candace knows that for a normal person, seeing this vicious, cruel creature would draw out their hate. But, Candace can see that under the vicious, cruel layers of Xavier's burning orange eyes lies a sensitive prince. And this sensitive prince is more than he appears to be.

Fairy Locket by Emily Casilli. This is the first book by this author that I have read and having heard some negative reviews, but I am not one to listen to reviews alone, I prefer to form my own opinions so I opened this book up and read it for myself.

Emily did a great job with her characters in my opinion. I loved both Candace and Xavier. I found that they both had layers to them and while it took time to really get into the book and start to see the layers they each had and feel the chemistry between them, once I got there, I just devoured this book.

The story itself was filled with so many twists and turns and I felt like my emotions were on this roller-coaster and I didn't know if I could or if I even wanted to get off. Every page left me guessing what was going to happen next.

The way that Emily wrote this story and described the way that Candace was slowly driven into madness not only by the immense forest that surrounded her perfect small cabin but also by the love she found in the rather mean and cranky tooth fairy, Xavier.

I love the way that Emily turned the tables in this book and rather than it being the MMC that was obsessed in this book it was the FMC instead. And the way that she perfectly described the twisted and gruesome dive that Candace took in falling into the madness, that was just a chef's kiss of perfection in my records.

Despite all the negative reviews that are out there for this book, I personally think that you need to read this book for yourself and then decide if you enjoyed it or not. Yes, I do recommend this book as I did enjoy it. And I am going to be reading other Emily Casilli books as I enjoyed her writing style in this book and I want to read more of it. But, as always, you need to form your own opinion about this book.
