This book is heartbreaking, but it's also inspiring. It's filled with so many horrible things, but it's also filled with so much hope. I think Yeonmi Park is my new hero.
I can't even begin to imagine the things that happened to this wonderful young lady happening to anyone. The struggles that she went through just by the age of 13 are out of this world. Or at least they should be. Nobody should have to go through anything remotely like what happened to her.
It's amazing how good we have it in so many other places of the world. We are blessed to not be in a tyranny and yet we still manage to complain about something every single day. When really our lives are very cush. Doesn't mean things could be better, sure, they always could be; but they could also be so, so, SO much worse.
This story is nothing short of amazing. Yeonmi Park is a brave, heroic, strong person and I have an immense amount of respect for her after reading this book.
Definitely recommend.
