An Optimist's Guide to Heartbreak by Jennifer Hartmann

5.0

Jennifer Hartmann does not miss & this first book in the Heartsong duet is a testament to that. An Optimist's Guide to Heartbreak is a must read.

Let's talk about Cal & Lucy & this damn story. The grumpy/sunshine part of this book had the vibes of Things We Never Got Over and I absolutely loved it. The side characters and the diary entries added so much color to this entire story. Cal, the tattooed motorcycle grump, and Lucy, the eternal sunshine, dynamic was perfect. The banter between the both of them left me in fits of giggles, but in true Jennifer Hartmann style she absolutely WRECKED MY HEART and left me begging (literally) for the second part of this duet.

Read if you like
- grumpy/sunshine
- hot motorcycle tattooed men
- witty banter
- emotional damage
- slow burns

FINAL THOUGHTS: This is a bingeable first book in a duet that will surely become one of my favorites of the year. The first part of Cal & Lucy's story left my heart a bit wrecked, but somehow I LOVED IT. This is a true slow burn book and will leave you scrambling for the second. The grumpy/sunshine trope SLAPS. I laughed. I cried. All the emotions were packed into An Optimist's Guide to Heartbreak
