This just kind of fell flat for me. The world building-lacking, the pacing-overall slow but also kind of all over the place, the romance-went from zero chemistry at all to all of a sudden we’re hooking up?! Huh?! I felt like the bond between Inara and Skedi was not well explained even when we got “answers”, and I was still confused about the history of the god wars when the book ended.
I did like the concept of how gods work, and the last but of the book was fun I guess. If it was more fleshed out I think the plotline had potential.
It was clear this was setting up for a sequel, but I don’t think I’ll be picking it up.
