It was a great premise..... but the characters were flat, unmemorable and their actions didn't align with what we knew about them, just moved the plot along, but made no sense. The main character asked the same questions over and over again, mostly "why" and "what do you mean by that" when the answers were obvious. Again, this didn't align with what we knew about her being the smartest in her year... and was simply used as a device to move the plot along, while inadvertently making her come off as whiny and stupid. MANY action moments were initiated with "just then, ____ burst in" to the point where I almost DNF'd the book. Finally, there was an unnecessary amount of vomiting and bleeding from facial orifices, along with a very gruesome death scene involving an elevator.
