The Light Between Oceans

While it seems like and is often billed as a romance novel this book feels like a lot more. Just like Janus lighthouse, trapped between two oceans, this book is about people trapped between two worlds. Even though it is impossible to tell where one ends and the other begins, every character in this book is forced to make peace with their own double life. One complaint is that, in featuring Tom as the main character, Isabel does not really get the attention she deserves. I think her character could have benefited from a few more scenes exploring her own emotions, because as it stands many of her actions seem selfish or downright villainous
