The Serpent's Shadow by Rick Riordan
5.0

This is by far my favourite one in the trilogy. From the get go, it felt like it had a slightly different tone to the other two, and I knew that it was going to be my favourite one in this series. It did not disappoint.

This book had the high stakes, the drama, the impending doom which I love (what an odd sentence, haha). Most of the time, I tend to find the very ending of Rick's series not my favourite, however, the Kane Chronicles is one of my two exceptions (the first being Percy Jackson). Rick managed to conclude this series in such an excellent way which I absolutely adored!

I love how sassy Saide was in this one. She is honestly such an icon and one of my favourite Rick Riordan characters to date. The same cannot be said for Carter. He had potential, but he needs to focus more on the missions and not his love life, haha.

Quite a few of the side characters got more depth in this one too, which is awesome because I love them all. Plus, Felix at the end? ICONIC! The lack of Bes and Bast was quite frankly disappointing, however, it was made up for by the general quest, as it took up a lot more in this one than the other two books.

I am actually kinda sad that this is the last book in this series. I really love all of the characters and getting to see them grow and develop.

The pacing of this book was also absolutely phenomenal. It felt like it took just the right amount at every story beat, and honestly, could not have been better.

This book is all that I wanted and more from the Kane Chronicles finale. It was quite frankly astounding, and I am so glad that I read this series.
