The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America by Richard Rothstein

challenging dark informative reflective slow-paced

4.0

Reading about how the American government segregated places around the country where segregation didn’t previously exist is mind blowing. How suburban residential areas were planned in an effort to segregate and perpetuate white supremacy. Then how freeways were routed through neighborhoods of color to relocate them to less desirable areas. And how it’s still currently happening… This book should be taught in high school history. We can’t solve this problem if 90% of citizens don’t know it’s a thing.
