The Beauty of Darkness
by Mary E. Pearson
I'm speechless right now. And torn somewhere between 4-5 stars? I don't even know what to think after finishing this epic beast of a book! Which is kind of praise on its own I guess.. Overall, I enjoyed the second book - The Heart of Betrayal far more than this one, but The Beauty of Darkness was so much more than a satisfying ending to an amazing series, and it made my emotions all over the place. I cried at least three times during this book! Oh yes, sometimes I was frustrated with it too (a lot), but this book was just able to affect me so much, both in good and bad ways. And I think that's far better than when a book makes reader indifferent. Also it says something when I was able to get through this almost 700 pages long beast in two sittings. I absolutely could not put it down.
I'm going to set it aside like this now and maybe write something that makes some sense later. But for now... No one talk to me, I think I'm emotionally devastated.
