The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware

4.0

First off, I love listening to Imogen Church narrate books. She’s just phenomenal.

Hal is a young, broke, tarot card reader struggling to make ends meet. One day she receives a letter informing her that her grandmother has passed and that she is in the will. The problem is, the woman who died is not her grandmother. Stuck between a rock and a hard place in her life, Hal decides to go to the funeral and meet the solicitor anyway, hoping that she may get enough to pay off her debts. Soon she realizes that there is something off about this family and she worries she may not be safe…

This was such a good book! I would think that I had the twists figured out, and then something else would happen to throw me in a different direction. Usually with audiobooks I’m able to turn them off no problem, but with The Death of Mrs. Westaway I found myself carrying my phone everywhere with me, eager to hear the rest of the story. One of the things I appreciated about Hal was that she was smart and didn’t make the silly mistakes that so many protagonists in thrillers/suspense tend to.
