Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

4.0

3.5

Cute, cute, cute.

I'm usually not a quirky or cutesy romance reader, meaning I generally prefer romances on the deeper or more introspective side. But the way Hibbert crafted her characters is just so charming and well-balanced that I found myself enjoying the more outlandish plot beats.

Chloe and Red had great, if not sizzling, chemistry. I really enjoyed the difference in their narration style. It was always really clear whose head we were in and who was speaking in a scene, which only added to the sense of the characters as fully-realized people.

I will say that I found Red's central conflict weaker than Chloe's and wish we had more exploration of it in text versus just being told he began therapy. But I LOVED the fact that Chloe's disability didn't get the "cured by good dick" treatment; her limitations and needs were always so centered and respected, which is such a breath of fresh air in the genre.

I get why these books have gained their popularity and will definitely continue on with the Brown sisters.
