Pageboy by Elliot Page

dark emotional hopeful informative reflective sad fast-paced

I recognize that this is an important, historically significant written work. This is also a memoir, so I’m rating the way this book was structured, not the author/life himself.

The timeline skips around chapter to chapter, which confused me. There doesn’t seem to be any reason for the skipping around, either. The memoir could have been laid out chronologically and had the same impact, in my opinion. I also found Page’s reflections to be fairly surface-level, without much reflection. He glossed over some periods of his life I was especially interested about: contemplating transition while in a married relationship with his ex-wife, and publicly transitioning as an already-famous person on a tv series.

That being said, I loved the juicy stories! I can admit that’s what I was mainly looking for, so as a whole, I am satisfied. Page has overcome more obstacles than the ones that were public prior to the release of this book, and he is brave to talk about them and provide inspiration to others.
