The Perfect Child
by Lucinda Berry
3.5 stars. I came across this book on a psychological thriller book list. I wouldn’t categorize this book in that genre. It was an interesting read that kept me hooked.
As a social worker and mental health worker I saw so many red flags...there were boundary violations left and right, but the unfortunate thing about it is that those things happen.
I was not a fan of the cliffhanger ending. A sequel that dives into the Bauer’s future along with Janie’s would be great. Maybe even a prequel to get more info on Janie’s upbringing.
Overall I enjoyed the book. I think my expectations were a little high going in based on the ratings and reviews which left me feeling a little disappointed. I will definitely read more books from this author.
