by K.L. Slater
Star Rating: 3
Janet's mother is on her deathbed and she a devastating family secret before she dies. Now, Janey is carrying the burden of the secrets from the past. Janet's husband, Issac tells her that he's received a job offer that will pay him double the amount he gets just now. It also allows the family relocate to an exclusive community. Buckingham Crescent is a posh area. Jenny struggles in the beginning to fit in when she picks up her son, Rowan at the school gates. Issac becomes withdrawn, hes hiding a secret. As Janey and Rowan make new friends, Issac is working even longer hours than before. But then Janey confides her family secret to her new best friend. Janey witnesses a serious attack in the street and now she's facing blackmail threatsand her trust is betrayed.
This book is a it of a slow burner for the first 70%. Theres secrets and lies throughout the story. The last 30% of the book was well worth waiting for. It's got twists and it gets intense. I was second guessing what was happening, I was slightly disappointed in the way it was wrapped up but she always has you hooked by the end. I have a few of her other novels and this one may be my least favorite but still worth the read.
