I found the first half of this book quite slow. It’s a lot of world building but it’s interesting. The magic system is a lot to take in so I understand why it took half the book to get it all in there. The last half was a faster pace. I don’t find any of the mmc holding my interest. I am quite intrigued with Aflora and what’s going on with her. I’m keen to see how that develops. I’m not big on “secrets” that span multiple books so I’m quite irritated that I read this book and it gave zero answers. The writing is good, the story is there, but the secrets and slow pace keep drawing me out of the story. I will continue bc I am intrigued enough to want to know what’s going on but if there’s no answers by the end of book 2 it will be a DNF series for me.
