Enticed by Renee Rose

4.0

Enticed is an enjoyable read in Rose and Vale’s Two Marks series. My favorite thing, by far, was the pragmatic nature of Ali, the heroine. She is amazingly capable, and you can easily see that she’ll be able to run her family’s large ranch with ease. There’s a huge insta-lust aspect with this series, as the male wolf pairs know instantly who their mate is and want to bond right at that second of discovery. But the challenge for Holt and Theo is that Ali is human, not shifter.

Then again, Ali feels that pull just as strongly as Holt and Theo, and the sensual scenes in Enticed deliver nicely. I also liked how Theo’s profession as a DEA agent and Holt’s as a sheriff dovetail to the threat in this story, which is their and Ali’s discovery of a meth manufacturing operation happening on Ali’s family farm. So you’ve got a throuple drawn together by their fated-mate status dealing with the difficulty of Ali having to accept what her father has gotten into and its risks to both him, her, and their family ranch.

What fell flat for me in this story was the meth-making situation. The villain all but twirls his mustache on the pages of this book, and Ali’s father is also way too revealing of the scenario he’s created. Granted, this is a shorter book, so there can’t be a huge buildup of the danger. But things moved incredibly quickly, and considering how the villain set things up, resolved a bit too easily as well.

I liked seeing characters from earlier books playing some key roles in Enticed, connecting this book to earlier ones. This is a fun series to read if you’re a fan of shifters, insta-love, sexy times, and wide open spaces.
