This is literally the first Colleen Hoover book that I haven’t loved. I guess I just wasn’t expecting it? I feel like the lack of a plot let this book down for me, it was definitely a story that was very character driven. And when you don’t love the characters, it’s hard to properly enjoy the book.
I think all of the characters in this book were extremely fucked up, perhaps not including Sagan. There was a lot of character development for the whole family (and I did end up not hating merit’s dad) however I feel like some things were unforgivable and should’ve not have been that easy to get over (the main one being Utah literally sexually assaulting his sister).
The overall message about mental health and depression was well written.
