Review:

Okay, so I’m going to continue this series- but man. I had a hard time understanding some of the visuals. King is absolutely brilliant and I am not, so a decent amount of the words King would use to describe a scene were really hard for my brain to wrap around even after the definition, which made it hard for me to fully lose myself in this book.

A tale of a lonely man(?) on a not-so-lonely road. There is a lot left unexplained by the end- but one thing you do know- the man will shoot. It was a slow paced (not dragging) adventure, with magic in the air (or right ahead of him), and guns in his holsters (at all times).

Quotes:

‘Don’t touch me! Don’t come near me! You dare not touch the Bride of God!’ ‘Want to bet?”

Ware the man who fakes a limp.

They looked at each other for a long, clockless moment.

Do any men grow up or do they simply come of age? (FAV quote)

His reaction was automatic, instantaneous, inbred. He whirled on his heels while his hands pulled the guns from their holsters.

Final Thoughts:

Western? Dystopian? Good? Bad? Ugly? I see King’s inspiration and I look forward to reading more of it in the second book.
